Synch Across Devices?

Reggie A 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
Hi Kevin - good day!  Am reading great feedback on your GTD and was just wondering if there is a way to synch the application across different devices, e.g. desktop, laptop, and android?
Answer
Kevin Erath 13 years ago
Hello Reggie,

you can synchronize your todos via the file synchronizer (e.g. USB Stick, local network, or Dropbox-Folder) and over an ftp server. This allows you to use Wieldy on more the one machine.

Currently there is now plan for an android app. I'm playing around with windows phone 7, to replace the current windows mobile version.

Delegierte Aufgaben

Wenn ich die Liste aller Delegierten Aufgaben (Tasks) drucke, möchte ich gerne in der Liste sehen, an wen ich den Task delegiert habe. Funktioniert das irgendwie?
Answer

Aktuell nicht. Ich habe aber eine kleine Modifikation in der nächsten Beta V0.2.7.740 eingebaut, welche beim Ausdrucken dann auch den Namen anzeigt.

Typing into a field (e.g. a new thought) very slow ... using almost all CPU while doing it

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 2
Wiely ran great for a few days, then I noticed that typing into any field (e.g. a new though) was very slow ... meaning only a few characters showed up on the screen per second. To see what was going on, I opened the Task Manager and saw that CPU usage was extremely high, while typing. Seems like something (maybe some sort of refresh?) is happening after every character I type. Any thoughts? I love Wieldy, but this issue is making it almost impossible to work with :-(

Locking Wieldy during synchronisation prevents the synchronisation

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
When autolock is active and windows is locked during an active synchronisation, the synchronisation will seem to be working, but the data will not be modified.

CHANGING PROJECT NAME WILL NOT PUT IT INTO CORRECT PROJECT FILE

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
WHEN I HIT THE WRONG PROJECT NAME AND FIND OUT LATER I CORRECT IT.  HOWEVER THE CORRECTION, WHICH I HAVE MADE IN RECURRING TASKS, DOES NOT MOVE THE ITEM INTO THE CORRECT PROJECT FOLDER.  THE ACTION STAYS IN RECURRING.

Storing the database in Dropbox directly

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
Is there anything in the program that makes the above a stupid idea? I use Wieldy both at work and at home, and it feels as if the synchronizing function is a bit redundant if I use DropBox on all my computers. I'll never be at two places the same time anyway....
Answer
Kevin Erath 13 years ago
Syncing via Dropbox is okay. There is no need to use the synchronizer, as long as you won't change the file on both sides before Dropbox has synced the file. Such szenario would only work with the synchronisation ability of Wieldy, as it can merge changes done on both sides.

Add ellipsis function to long strings in left pane

Tomas S 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
I suggest an ellipsis function to truncate long strings while keeping the number of items visible. Check out Evernote if not sure what I mean. I know there is an automatic ellipsis function in WPF but I'm not certain it can be used if you want to show the number if items in each category (typically projects, that's where the long strings appear)

Notification of an action is needed.

Anonymous 12 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 11 years ago 1

Like a created an action 10 days from now. Then if wieldy will not notify me through a pop-up or something, then what is the use of making a to-do list. Like if I had check it every day or every hour, that there is an even going on or not, then I can remember things myself.

Wieldy for OSX

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
A version for OSX would be fantastic! Wieldy is an essential part of my day but I am soon to move to a Mac so am sad to not be able to take it with me.
Answer
Kevin Erath 13 years ago
I'm sorry, but i don't have a OS X-Version planned. the main reason is, that i used the Microsoft .NET framework to develop the application. As this framework is not available for Mac OS X (at least in the form i need) i would have to rewrite most of the application.

If someone wants to write a Wieldy for Mac i would give a helping hand though.

Multiple choice lists, drop downs, help bubbles etc are showing up behind current window, unusable.

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 1
All of the multi choice lists and various pop up functions like the calender for scheduling, as well as the rollover tips pop ups are behind the currently focused window. I am unable to see must of the information contained in them.
Answer
Kevin Erath 13 years ago
This is a known issue, caused by the .NET Framework 3.5 on some Windows XP machines. The only working solution i found, is updating Wieldy to use .NET 4.0. Unfortunately i did not yet had the time to do this update, as there are several changes involved.

The icon will show the color of the project. This way you can identify the project. Beside this, there is currently no other way.

Upgraded to the latest version and the the tasks I'd ticked as done have been moved back to the ToDo list. Not particularly happy!

Did all actions moved back to the ToDolist? Or did only some move back. For example did only those actions reverted back, which you done right before the update?

done tasks should have the project structure

chraus 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 1
All done tasks are moved into the same folder. So it is not possible to see to which tasks they belonged. It will be usefull to see which task are already done for a project. So in the done folder there should be also the projects.
Answer
Kevin Erath 13 years ago
I have added a Filter Option, you can use it to show the done items within the projects view.

The feature is currently only available in the beta release. Please tell me if this feature helps you.

One additional note. The actions belonging to a project will have a different icon. Showing the projects color.
