Alle Daten WEG!!!! Hilfe

Tanja Link 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0

A global shortcut to toggle (show/hide) Wieldy window. And if possible, make speed that up...

digitizer 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 4
A global shortcut can then be used with Application like StrokeIt to have a gesture for it, or assigned to a media button.

This is not implemented yet, but i have a temporar solution for you. With the current beta i implemented that Wieldy opens the Main Window when it is already running, but the executable is started again. I know it isn't the fastest solution, but maybe you can configure your Gesture Software to just start the executable.

Does this work for you?

Project - Note and reference

Winfried Krass 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 2
Kevin, I would like to have my notes and references for a project in wieldy.
In particular for the Natural Planning steps (1. Defining purpose and principles, 2. Outcome visioning, 3. Brainstorming, 4. Organizing, 5. Identifying Next Actions) I would like to collect my notes.
The possibility to store references to additional material would be great, too.

Thank you very much.
Answer
Kevin Erath 13 years ago
Interesting idea. Do you have a wish where those things (notes and references) should be configured? Maybe i add a separate list, where all projects are listed.

Does Check for Updates under Tools update to beta or stable version?

I suggest "Update to Beta" menu item.

In the default configuration it will only check for stable versions, but you can configure this in the settings.

Alternatively you can always download the betas from the website.

I'd like to import contacts from a comma delimited file without a password

Anonymous 14 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 14 years ago 0
I seem to be stuck in a perpetual loop asking me for the password for an import (Sync) from a file. Am I making a mistake?
Answer
Kevin Erath 14 years ago
The file synchronizer is using either a XML File (the schema is set by Wieldy) or it uses the same XML File format in a encrypted and compressed way (when encryption is enabled).

When your CSV file is opened by the synchronizer, it detects that it is not a valid XML file and thus thinks the file is encrypted.

Unfortunately, the short answer to your question is, that Wieldy right now does not support the import of custom csv files. Maybe you can import the csv File into Outlook and then import it from Outlook to Wieldy.

I will think about a solution, but right now my guess is, that i don't find a quick solution.

Autosafe when program is terminated (e.g. on shutdown)

Anonymous 14 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 14 years ago 1
It happened two times to me that I entered important tasks and then shut down my PC without clicking the safe button of Wieldy. Next day, everything was lost. Wieldy really should auto-save the data whenever its window is closed or minified and when it gets the signal to terminate. Of course, if there are no changes to save (e.g. if time-based auto-save happened earlier), it should not save again.

For me, this data safety is the single most important issue for any GTD program. If I'm unsure whether everything is really saved I still try to keep things in my head because I worry if I am missing things. It has a reason that David Allen calls it a "safe system".
Answer
Kevin Erath 14 years ago
Wieldy should already save it's data when the window is closed. Also the same should be true when the application is closed.

Wieldy did not handle the Windows Shutdown/Reboot event correctly. This has been fixed in beta V0.2.6.658.

I believe the most important feature of an organizer is the ease of use through speed. One thing i can think of now would be setting up the Create new thought window to respond to mouse scrolling to scroll thorugh the Move into items.

digitizer 13 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 13 years ago 0
Or maybe set them up as buttons? or have shortcuts like Alt + 1, 2, 3... for items in that list.. this would rid you of the need to jump from keyboard to mouse to keyboard

Install is not Windows friendly.

Anonymous 14 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 14 years ago 0
Install is not Windows friendly. This is a surprise, considering the program is written in C#. Try using a free Windows installer such as Nullsoft.

I downloaded the program on my netbook with a 7.5 inch screen and found it difficult to resize the default screen.

I added a thought, it was saved. I added a Do/Today and it was not saved.

It would help if there was a embedded help file included with the download.

Overall, it runs on Win XP but is not Win friendly. I will play some more, but these are not good first impressions

How to handle GTD concepts of Context and Effort?

Anonymous 14 years ago updated by Kevin Erath 14 years ago 0
Answer
Kevin Erath 14 years ago
Context can be managed with the tags. I use them quit frequently for my context. At the beginning i had a extra context entry, but i often needed more then one context. So i removed the context entry and used the tagging instead.

For my actions i didn't have the need to configure the energy or effort, as it is obvious when reading my todolist. You could also use the tag mechanism to add the required effort/energy to each action.

If this is not sufficient to you, how could i improve Wieldy in this point? If i would add an effort input field, what would be the options i could choose from?
